Intuition often clear, wise

Posted November 4, 2006

Q. How can I tell when the inner voice I hear comes from my intuition and when it comes from my ego? -- C.B., Hillsboro Beach

A. The ego voice is almost always associated with feelings of doubt, fear, resistance, guilt, separation and confusion. The voice of intuition is clear, wise, loving and harmonious. It will generally result in an action that brings forth the greater good.

Steve Pavlina writes, "The ego comes from scarcity. For you to gain, someone must lose. The ego's world is a competitive world of winners and losers, rich and poor, successful and unsuccessful.

"Your intuitive awareness comes from abundance. It assumes there is plenty to go around, and that when you gain, so does everyone else. It urges you towards joyful self-expression."

When you review the following list, you will notice the various qualities of the ego vs. intuition.

Thoughts of separation are from the ego. Feelings of connection come from intuition.

The mind drives the ego. The heart is enlivened by intuition. The ego seeks revenge. Intuition guides you to forgive. Resistance is a sign that your ego is active. Acceptance comes from a higher truth.

By considering the energy of your thoughts and feelings, you will know if your guidance is from the ego or from intuition.

Intuition brings illumination, understanding and love. It is the source of revelation -- and provides the insight to know that God lives in your heart and soul.
