Hallelujah, I thought, it’s about time Integrative Medicine found its way into the mainstream.
Here’s what happened…
I accompanied a friend to a fancy schmancy doctor's office in Boca Raton. The building was designed in the round.....all the waiting areas were outside the suites. Prominent signs displayed the specialty of the practice.
As I walked around in awe of the warm and welcoming building I saw one man sitting in the Oncology waiting area. I felt sad for a moment, imaging what it’s like to visit an oncologist's office and then right next that suite, I saw a big sign that said, Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Chiropractic Wellness and Nutrition.
Hallelujah, I thought and felt every cell in my body rejoice. Wow zowie, someone can get treated for cancer through the right door and utilize holistic medicine through the next one. This is Great!
Finally, we’re waking up and taking the best from both worlds.
I went to the window and addressed the receptionist at the Chinese Medicine side. “How wonderful,” I said, “to see western and eastern medicine offered together. We’ve come a long way.”
No, she said, “were separate businesses and the oncologist is out of business. They closed a few months ago.” “Oh,” I replied.
And then we started talking about healing and wellness and mindfulness and meditation and before you knew it, we were sharing our joy for what we’ve learned about the business of living life to the fullest!
I walked away thinking, Hallelujah, we’re so blessed to be alive!
