The great Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, is credited with the familiar phrase, “The
journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” The actual quote has two lines
before that one, “Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while
they are small.”
We awaken each day on this marvelous ‘earth school’ where each step is an opportunity to move us forward. Lao Tzu also reminds us that, “A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.”
You are reading the first words, of the first blog, of the launch of the Ask Liz website. The domain name was purchased in 2007 as a gift for my 50th birthday.
For years, I have wondered how to honor this gift. It finally dawned on me that we are all
travelers; learning and helping lift each other up on this great, harrowing, perilous, exciting life journey.
It's time to share our collective wisdom and I'm here to say, yes!
From 1993 to 2012, I had the great privilege of interviewing thousands of authors,
celebrities, scientists, spiritual leaders, visionaries, artists and people just like you and
me. I gleaned the inner working of the mind and the exceptional wisdom inherent in our
hearts. My Masters Degree in Counseling taught me to listen deeply to
hear what people say, think and feel so I can now share what I know to be true — with
you.
I promise, throughout our journey on AskLiz.com that we will explore, discover, uncover,
revel in and rise to meet whatever we find along the way… because we truly know, it’s not
about the destination, it's about each and every step along the way.
Let’s do this together!
