Q: I am motivated to make a difference in the world. How can I begin?

Submitted by B.G., Boca Raton

The famous bumper sticker, “Think globally, act locally,” is apropos for this matter. We each have the power to make a splash in someone else’s life and begin a chain reaction.

You can begin making a difference in the world by becoming a Daymaker, someone who performs acts of kindness with the intention of making the world a better place.

I’ve heard it said that a simple smile will travel around the world. If you share your kindness with 10 people today, they in turn will touch 10 and so on and so forth. This is the way to make a difference.

Many of us have become inspired to take action; to save our planet earth from the casualties of pollution, war, corruption and disease. You can recycle, buy hybrid vehicles, invest in green companies and vote with your dollar. Others have awakened to the realization that prayers are powerful enough to heal the sick and to create miracles.

Each of us must find our unique way to effect change and restore the earth and humanity to its natural homeostasis. Kindness is the first step. First be kind to yourself, then to the earth and finally, share your kindness with others. That will truly make a difference.

Mother Teresa said, “Let no one ever come to leave you without leaving better and happier.
